FAQ

Once you have loaded media files into the grid, you may find it handy to save your grid configuration for later use. This is especially handy if you have been loading files from multiple folders. Saving a set will also save any in/out points you have set.

Contents

Saving a Set file

Loading Sets

Loading sets via the sets menu

On load, GRID2 will look for set files contained in the GRID Sets folder and list the folder contents in the Sets menu. To load a set listed in the menu, simply select the desired set from the Sets menu. A load screen will come up indicating that GRID2 is loading movies.

Loading sets using a dialog

If you wish to load a set that is not in your GRID Sets folder, select Load Set from the File menu. A dialog window will open asking you to lo-cate the set file that you wish to load. If you click cancel, you will return to GRID2 without loading any files. Once a set file is selected, GRID2 will read the set in the same manner as loading from the sets menu.

Loading sets from the Finder or Windows Explorer

As of GRID 2.0.3, set files can be opened in the Finder (on OS X) or Explorer (or Windows) simply by double clicking on the file.

The Media folder

When a set is saved, GRID2 saves the absolute file path of each file loaded into the grid cells. If you were to move files or change folder names, GRID2 will be unable to find these files when you load your set. To avoid this, you can place your media files inside the Grid Media folder. When loading a set, GRID will first look inside the Media folder to see if any of the movies or audio files it needs to load are inside the Media folder. If GRID finds your movies inside the Media folder, it will load them instead of using the absolute path.

Using the Media folder is especially useful if you are using GRID2 on a computer other than the one you used to prepare the set. By placing your movies inside the Media folder, GRID2 will be able to find them, regardless of the computer you are using.

Tips

Sets files that are placed in the GRID2 sets folder will appear in the Sets menu for quick access.

If you want to have a default set file loaded each time you launch GRID2, place the word 'default' in the name of the set file, and place in the GRID2 Sets folder. For example, if your set file is named "MySet", change the name to "MySet-default" or "default-MySet"
