Postby kit » Sat Jul 28, 2012 2:50 am

Does anyone know if the Blackmagic intensity can capture from one hdmi, feed to vdmx then output the other hdmi?

I am pretty confident that it does (configureable) -
Let me make a test and report back :-)

update -

I was testing outputting in both 720p/1080i/p
With two intensity pro cards in a mac pro with osx 10.6.8 and the latest intensity drivers and firmware

when using a dell monitor for preview it worked fine (using hdmi to dvi cable - although the monitor could not handle yuv to rgb conversion so the colors expectably came out odd)

But when testing with a hdmi projector it didnt work but I expect that it might have to do with the 10m hdmi cable (projector being in another room)

In general the intensity pro cards loops the input through and with the driver setup you can choose to what output format (hdmi, component, analog)

One thing to be aware of is that VDMX cannot see the 1080p 25fps and 30fps inputs - only the 24fps (same as quicktime)

Blackmagic's own apps however gives those import options. So i guess it is a api thing

Hey kit-

Currently VDMX only supports video capture from BlackMagic (and similar devices).

Video can only be output via a monitor connection off a GPU that supports OpenGL.

sorry for the confusion - Let me try and clarify:

the intensity card automatically loops the input hdmi/component/composite signal through the output hdmi/component/composite connecter on the same intensity pro card - _not_ the vdmx output

Cheers,
Søren

Is there anyway to get a thunderbolt Matrox MXO2 or Blackmagic intensity thunderbolt edition to get simultaneous input and output?

What about using a thunderbolt hub?

Just curious as my macbook pro only has one thunderbolt port.

With a non-retina MBP with one thunderbolt port you have two options when needing support for daisy chaining thunderbolt devices / screen output :

the very pricy Aja IOxt: (one input only)
http://www.aja.com/en/products/io-xt/

or using a thunderbolt pcie enclosure from Sonnet with your favourite BMD video card:

compatible hardware: (the decklink quad works too (4 simultaneous inputs))
http://www.sonnettech.com/support/chart ... index.html

both solutions supports daisy chaining so you can connect a screen/projector/raid/whatever at the same time

I can only seem to get HDMI LOOP THROUGH on my INTENSITY PRO card.

Shame - would be nice to have another output option
