Matrox MX02 mini vs Blackmagic Intencity extreme

Postby auto64 » Fri Sep 30, 2011 2:30 pm

Heya,

I currently own the Matrox MX02 mini with the expresscard..
I use it primarily for recording VDMX output via HDMI

anyway, I recently got a new laptop and now i have to deal with Thunderbolt.

So checking out the prices on the adaptor from Matrox, i realized that for 50 euro more i can just buy the Blackmagic Intensity extreme box, which HAS thunderbolt ..

I guess my question is does anyone know if I am going to run into trouble going into the Blackmagic card from VDMX..

Also, if there is anyone who has any reason why I wouldnt just switch, please let me know..

it just seems to me, if I am going to spend 150euro to keep an old piece of technology running, i might as well just buy a new piece and sell the old one.

Hello,

I know that you are looking for an answer to your question, but I have a question for you. Can you do a quick check with the MX02 mini and see how big is the latency of the card using live video source? how many frames?

Please try it with analog video.

I have been looking for that answer for a long time, and nobody haven't answer me.

Can you help me with that?

thanks!

the problem i have is that my old laptop was a first gen macbook pro core duo, and while it captures using the MX02 mini, it does drop frames, so any latency report i could give you would be a bit pointless.
