Postby stefano_rigano » Thu Oct 16, 2008 5:54 pm

Hi guys...
I have post the same question in a different topic, but I think that I have to to render more explicit the content ;) ....

I read in some forums that are available for Mac drivers for some USB Dispalylinkexternal video cards.... theoretically an external video card improve performance
, but it's an reliable system? anyone has test it?

do you know if it is posible to plug more of these cards in a usb hub?
and it would be cool if you could plug a t2g in it.
then its posible to make 6 or more screens from 1 laptop.
crazy..

Im not sure if the USB header would use the graphics card to output therefore anything which usually utiizes the GPU(and therefore openGL) probably wouldnt be able to

...in displaylink web site is write "...A typical PC can run up to six monitors. The exact number depends on the type of content being displayed."...

I have read similar things in various forums ... what I want to understand is how this technology works, and whether these cards are simply adapters / converters of signal, or real external video cards , interfaced with computer via usb ... The last theory, I repeat, should ease the primary video card from onerous tasks as to drive two or more monitors / projectors...

I think it is very interesting to know more

Wanting to know exactly the same answer. Anyone try display link? It's definitely smaller and cheaper. But does it work reliably. Also I've read some reviews that DoubleHead2Go can be finicky as well, sometimes loses the images. Any crit?

USB to dvi is not very reliable. The bandwidth of usb is to small (especially for visuals) and will slow down your computer.

I would go for The dualhead! Surely!!

Kind Regards
